The term "good Samaritan" is known all around the world, even by those who have nothing to do with Christianity or the Church. But what does it mean to be a "good Samaritan"? In a nutshell, it comes down to helping those in need.
These past few weeks have brought multiple families in great need into our lives here at Grace. Thanks to your generous donations/help, we've been able to help a homeless family celebrate Christmas together in their own home, and for this I thank both God and you!
*We need your help again! The extended school break has brought another family in dire need into our orbit. One of the faculty members at Jeannette's school reached out to her today, asking if there was any way we could help a young mom with two boys. Mom recently relocated after her husband unexpectedly passed away. The loss of his income was difficult enough to deal with. Add on first and last month's rent, not to mention trying to provide the boys with something for Christmas, and this poor woman didn't have enough to purchase a gallon of milk for her kids' breakfast this morning. The cupboards and refrigerator were bare. They ate leftover pizza and drank water for breakfast. Her financial obligations; i.e., rent, insurance, etc, have her paychecks already spent until the 15th of January. Can you help? Any donation you make will be used to purchase Walmart gift cards so she can provide for her family during this already difficult time in their lives.
**You can make a check out directly to us (Grace Lutheran Church). Just be sure to note "Good Samaritan Benevolence Fund" on the memo line. Even easier, though, you can click on the button below, and you will be taken directly to the Tithe-ly website, where you can make an immediate electronic donation.
Please be sure to keep checking back with us! There is tremendous need, especially this time of year! We don't realize how truly blessed we are until we are brought into the lives of those who are truly suffering.
